About Me
I came to hear about LOM through my brother, Matt Wiese. He went on one of the LOM trips to Africa a few years ago. I always thought it was so cool and so brave that he decided to join this ministry. My brother’s trip seemed crazy and too radical for someone like me. To be honest I felt like it was out of my league. I kinda thought this mission stuff was for other people. As for me, I was happy remaining safe and comfortable. When I finally decided to go on a trip I was so nervous and worried. I couldn’t wait for it to be over and done with. I had no idea that this trip would be so awesome and completely transform my life. Launch Out Ministries provided an amazing trip that quite honestly changed my perspective and now I cannot wait to go back!

Memory that stands out from the past LOM trip.
My favorite memory from my trip to Africa was when the group hung out with kids at a children’s prison. I know, I know, to the average American a children’s prison in the middle of Tanzania sounds like the last place on earth you would want to be. Until you experience something like this where God really does move and show His love to those who are so desperate for it, I would not expect anyone to understand. At this prison we saw kids who had so much pain in their eyes. I have never seen a sadder sight. However God showed up and did His thing. We poured out His love and watched God work. I believe 20 or so kids got saved that day. It was so awesome. The feeling we all had after our visit was absolutely beyond words.

What is your favorite seat on the truck.
My favorite seat on the truck is the one furthest from the back. The closer to the front you are, the less bumps you feel, the more sleep you can get. And besides the window seat in the back is extremely overrated.

Tea or Coffee
I am a coffee guy. Now that I’m in the daily grind of the corporate workforce, I pretty much survive on the stuff.

Do you have any funny memory from LOM trip.
A funny moment I had on the trip was when Wesley and I were in the back of the truck. We were traveling a few minutes down the road to go base jumping! This also happened to be the only day that I got sick. I had the works, so I was really tired and almost asleep... Next thing I know a huge baboon climbed into the truck with us! It started going through our stuff. I remember he picked up a pink NorthFace jacket like he was interested in buying it! So me and Wesley naturally decided to look for something that we could defend ourselves with. Besides some jackets and pillows the back of the truck was almost empty... So I kinda panicked and grabbed the water jug next to me and then began smacking the baboon with the jug. In hindsight that was a terrible idea (baboons are crazy strong) but it worked! The baboon climbed out of the truck and then only minutes later I was bungee jumping. What an eventful afternoon!
